This is one of the most abstract sets I have had the pleasure of working on, in a world where nothing has to make sense, but still be cohesive I was able to find that sweet spot for the designer and make his visions come true. On this musical, I used a lot of sprays, sponges, and scenic dope which is always within the realm of normal painter tasks, but due to the inclined rake of the set, we had to apply a special treatment to the platforms called SharkGrip so actors would not slip or lose their balance. You can’t see it, but it provides a very rough sandy texture to the paint!
